East Bethel, Minnesota, is a community that beautifully blends its rich historical roots with a vibrant present-day spirit. As residents, we have the privilege of living in a city that honors its past while actively shaping its future.
A Glimpse into Our History
Our city’s journey began in the mid-19th century when settlers arrived in the 1850s. Originally incorporated as the Township of Bethel in 1858, the name ‘Bethel’ derives from the Bible, meaning ‘House of God.’ The Quakers were among the first settlers in 1856, establishing schools and churches. Although they left during the Indian Massacre of 1862, other settlers returned, contributing to the steady growth of the township. By 1957, the population had grown to 1,286, leading to the incorporation of East Bethel as a village, and eventually as a city in 1974. Today, East Bethel spans approximately 48 square miles, making it one of the largest cities in the metro area by size.
Community Events: Celebrating Together
Our community thrives on events that bring us together. One such cherished tradition is the East Bethel Booster Days. This annual event, held every July, features live entertainment, delicious food, and activities for all ages. It’s a time when families and friends gather to celebrate our community spirit.
